The main idea of the project is the production of large-scale Semi-Transparent Organic and Printed Photovoltaics (OPVs) with visible light transparency, which will be integrated into building facades and bus shelters to harness Renewable Energy Sources and save electricity within the urban environment, thus contributing drastically to the sustainable transformation of urban areas. Specifically, the project aims to produce 3rd generation photovoltaics—namely large-scale flexible organic Semi-Transparent OPVs (H-OPVs) using Roll-to-Roll printing techniques, integrated
 in-line pulsed laser scribing techniques, and optical metrology tools to measure their nanolayers. Improving the energy efficiency and optical transparency of H-OPVs will play a catalytic role in their successful integration into shelters and building infrastructure, yielding an innovative product that will revolutionize the sustainable transformation of urban areas.
