The Factory of the Future is based in Thessaloniki and in three years time it will be able to provide the global industry with "infallible" printed nanotechnology products that can be applied in a number of areas such as automotives, green houses, energy, buildings, "smart" fabrics and packaging. The Factory's construction is based on the ambitious Smart Line project, funded by the EU and includes OET alongst the seven participating partners, with the Nanotechnology Laboratory of the Aristotle University in the lead as coordinator. Stergios Logothetidis, the project manager, said during the presentation of the facilities of the Center for Organic and Printed Electronics (COPE-H), that it is one of the most ambitious projects that will play a decisive role in the digital transformation of Greece and Europe.

IoT Solutions World Congress Participation

OET participated as a visitor in the IoT Solutions World Congress, which took place from the 3rd to the 5th of October 2017 in Barcelona, in order to enable the accelerated uptake by the industry of in-line metrology tools, methodologies and related control automation systems on pilot and production printing lines on organic electronics for digitization manufacturing.
This year’s main theme was the accelerating growth, adoption and widespread use of industrial IoT. Over 13,000 visitors, 250 speakers and 220 exhibiting companies, enjoyed the leading international event. OET had the opportunity to engage in networking and enable the accelerated uptake by industry IoT thinkers towards the Smartline concept with innovative solutions benefitting many industries. OET participated also, in the RespiceSME workshop on Light technologies in Transport, Manufacturing, Energy & Environment in order to establish networks with other European Clusters, Associations, and Projects.

Smartline Project Press Release

OET participates in one of the most ambitious competitive EU-funded research project, Smartline, in terms of Horizon 2020 and Factory of Future, which targets in creating a Factory of Futute in Thessaloniki (EL). The presentation of Smartline took place in COPE-H (Center of Organic & Printed Electronics - Hellas) facilities in Thessaloniki. The project has two directions, in order to create the Factory of Future in Organic Electronics, on Quality and on Mass Production, minimizing defects and losses during production phase.

Smartline started on September 1st, 2017 and its duration is 3 years. Smartline targets at
- development of smart non-destructive optical metrology tools for quality control of Nanomaterials and Organic Electronic (OE) Devices
- automation of the production of OE devices after the implementation of metrology techniques in pilot lines for adjusting the production parameters in order to optimize the production of OE devices (OPVs, OLEDs for lighting)
- optimization of the OPVs & OLEDs Production
- integration of OPVs & OLEDs in Automotive Applications

OET, at Smartline, is responsible for co-ordinating the manufacturers of all scientific instruments and quality control systems and these systems, which are or will integrated in the Production Line. These metrology systems will automatically decide the corrective movements in the production process. "As part of SmartLine, we will create the software for the decisions and the corrective actions that the Production Line will make. We will strengthen our expertise in the OPVs production and we will create the conditions for our strong presence in the Digital Industry (Industry 4.0). "

Stay tuned for latest news & upcoming results!!

Below you can find some of the press clippings about the Smartline press conference.

OET at Graphene Week Athens 2017

OET participated in Graphene Week 2017, in Athens, Greece, presenting its booth alongside the Nanotechnology Lab LTFN, from the 25th til the 29th of September. Moreover OET presented its latest results in graphene: "Graphene Layers: Production, Characterization, Integration & Devices (EU FP7 Project GLADIATOR)", the overview results of the GLADIATOR Project which finished successfully in April 2017.

SMARTLINE Kickoff Meeting

OET participated in SMARTLINE Project Kick-off meeting, on the 15th of September.  SmartLine is an EU Horizon2020 project funded coordinated by the Nanotechnology Lab LTFN. The Project's mission is to create intelligent and zero-defect manufacturing processes by developing robust and non-destructive in-line metrology tools and a process control platform to achieve the reliable and closed-loop manufacturing of Organic Electronic devices (OPVs and OLEDs for lighting) by R2R Printing and OVPD pilot lines.
