Nanotechnology Laboratory LTFN of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in a coordinated effort with Greek Nanotechnology companies BLNanobiomed and OET, proceeded to the development and donation of 15 masks along with with 75 high protection nanofilters and 15 special nanoparticles, to the AHEPA Hospital of Thessaloniki.

As explained by the head of LTFN, Professor Stergios Logothetidis, “these are the first nanofilters in the world for masks that make use of nanotechnology-based patents based, to ensure high protection against viruses and bacteria.”

Nanotechnology expert and cardiologist Dr. Varvara Karagiozaki, who is taking part in the project, explains: “These Nanomasks if you will, actually act as face “shields” thanks to their high protection nanofilters. A total of 15 special re-usable face masks were delivered to AHEPA Hospital, 75 replacable nanofilters as well as 15 facial nanoshields, for the protection of medical and paramedical staff “.

The team of the LTFN Laboratory of Nanotechnology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki along with the companies BLNanobiomed and OET, as well as the Association of Hellenic Organic Electronics Companies (HOPE-A) have already created, with the use of 3D printing and Nanotechnology, 3D printed and  nanostructured protection masks.
